Exporting your inventory report from ezyVet

ezyVet runs in the browser and leans on a report builder rather than a fixed list of reports. That takes a few more clicks the first time, but it works in your favour here: you can choose exactly the columns you need instead of exporting a wide report and deleting half of it. Build it once and save it, and next month is a single click.

What you actually need

Four columns. Everything else in the report is optional, so do not spend time tidying the rest.

Item name
exactly as your system writes it
Quantity on hand
current units in stock
Unit cost
what you pay your distributor, not the client price
Units sold, one file per month
twelve separate monthly reports, not one twelve-month total

Two optional columns worth grabbing

If ezyVet offers these, leave them in. They cost nothing at export time and they let StockSolve compare what an item should have earned against what it actually booked, which is what separates a vaccine bundled into a wellness plan from a charge that was simply missed. Nothing to map: if the columns are in the file, the engine finds them.

Unit price
the client-facing sell price. Often called Price, Retail, Sell or Charge
Sales revenue
what the item actually booked. Often called Revenue, Extended, Sales or Amount

Which reports to look for in ezyVet

Report names shift between versions, so go by what the report contains rather than by an exact menu label. You are looking for two things:

  1. 1A stock or inventory report showing current quantity and cost per product.
  2. 2A sales or invoice line report grouped by product, run once per calendar month for the last twelve months, so you end up with twelve files.

Exact steps

Taken from IDEXX’s own documentation. Menu wording can still shift between releases.

  1. 1On-hand and cost: select Reporting, then Inventory, then Inventory Value.
  2. 2In the Format section choose Excel or CSV.
  3. 3Tick Display unit cost price so each product carries its average unit cost. Leave Exclude codes with zero quantity unticked: an item sitting at zero that still sells is a stockout, and the reorder math needs to see it.
  4. 4Select Print. Your browser downloads the file.
  5. 5Sales history: run the Invoice Revenue By Group report with Group By set to the product level and Dates (Inclusive) set to one calendar month. Repeat for each of the last twelve months and save each run as its own CSV named with its month, for example 2026-08.csv. Its Quantity Sold column is the units figure you need.
  6. 6Do not use Sub Group By set to Date (Month). That puts every month into one file with a month column, which the app cannot read as separate months. Twelve one-month runs is what the reorder math needs, because the swings between months are what safety stock is sized from.

Things that trip people up on ezyVet

Display unit cost price is a box you have to tick on the Inventory Value report. Without it you get quantities and totals but no per-unit cost, which is the column the math needs most.
If your practice tracks stock across more than one location, use the Location box to export one site at a time rather than letting a product split across rows.
On Invoice Revenue By Group, the column you want is Quantity Sold (the total number invoiced). Total Cost is a dollar figure, not units.
Your user account needs report permissions before any of these appear.
