Cloud, browser based

Exporting your inventory report from Digitail

Digitail is one of the newer cloud systems, with an inventory module that tracks stock movements as they happen. As with any browser-based system, exports download straight to your machine, so the work is picking the right report rather than wrestling with a print dialog.

What you actually need

Four columns. Everything else in the report is optional, so do not spend time tidying the rest.

Item name
exactly as your system writes it
Quantity on hand
current units in stock
Unit cost
what you pay your distributor, not the client price
Units sold, one file per month
twelve separate monthly reports, not one twelve-month total

Two optional columns worth grabbing

If Digitail offers these, leave them in. They cost nothing at export time and they let StockSolve compare what an item should have earned against what it actually booked, which is what separates a vaccine bundled into a wellness plan from a charge that was simply missed. Nothing to map: if the columns are in the file, the engine finds them.

Unit price
the client-facing sell price. Often called Price, Retail, Sell or Charge
Sales revenue
what the item actually booked. Often called Revenue, Extended, Sales or Amount

Which reports to look for in Digitail

Report names shift between versions, so go by what the report contains rather than by an exact menu label. You are looking for two things:

  1. 1An inventory or stock report showing current quantity and cost per product.
  2. 2A sales or consumption report by product across a date range.

Things that trip people up on Digitail

Newer systems often report stock movements rather than a simple on-hand total. If you get a movement log, you want the closing quantity per item, not every transaction row.
Set the date range deliberately. Cloud reporting tools commonly default to the current month, which would leave you analysing a twelfth of your year.
Confirm the cost column is purchase cost rather than the price charged to clients.
